Menopause Awareness month

The International Menopause Society, in partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), have designated October World Menopause Awareness Month. On October 18, World Menopause Awareness Day is celebrated.   The IMS states that the day's purpose is to increase awareness of menopause and support options for improving health and well being. The 2021 theme is bone health.   According to the IMS whitepaper Osteoporosis with associated fractures is the most common form of chronic metabolic bone disease. It accounts for 8.9 millions fractures annually worldwide.   These fractures lead to higher morbidity, and even death.   IMS has a brochure for patients about bone health and a poster to raise awareness.
